As we gear up for this amazing event, I’ll be bringing you author interviews so you can get to know the attending authors in more detail! There are lots and lots of authors for you to discover, not to mention, hundreds if not thousands of books! Why not grab a cuppa and sit back and relax! All while hearing more about our writers and their writing lives, inspirations – and maybe even a secret or two!

What is the first thing people should know about you?
I’m an introvert, unless I get to know you or if asked about ‘Raising Hell’. Then I become very animated.
Tell me which genre or trope you are most well-known for writing.
Supernatural fiction
What is one thing people don’t know about you?
When I get some sleep, I have lucid dreams (and nightmares).
Was there a book you wrote that broke you and made you feel like you’d never write again?
Not yet.
Are you one of those authors for whom music is EVERYTHING and without it you’d never write?
I love listening to music before I start writing. Many times it has jogged my memory or prompted something new. A few times it has saved me from those moments when the words won’t flow. I have separate playlists for some of the novels (there are a few that are in the works). I don’t listen to music whilst writing.
Is your desk/writing space tidy or messy?
Tidy. I can’t work if it isn’t.
Who or what inspires you as a writer?
People, places, music, reading the news or books. The newspaper is a great source for finding weird and wonderful stories that can spark the imagination.
The literary world moves fast, but what’s the one thing that never changes?
People’s need to escape into a book.
What is your advice to authors just starting out?
Social media is great for meeting people in the writing community and readers. It is also great for marketing purposes. But, it is also too easy to become distracted from writing when using it. Allot a certain amount of time a day/week to it, and schedule tweets etc. Your time is precious.
What did you always want to be when you were growing up?
A vet (but the sight of blood made me dizzy and nauseous).
Who is your biggest cheerleader?
My family. They’re 100% supportive, and 100% loud about it, bless them.
BONUS Q. Tell me a secret about one of your books that nobody else knows yet!
Initially, I considered making Blaine human, but the power imbalance wouldn’t have worked. I then thought about making him a higher ranking Daemon, but thought he may prefer a challenge. So he is a lower ranking Daemon with powers, just fewer than he could have had. It makes for a more interesting dynamic between him and Cadence.
Thank you so much for your time, Tabatha!
